After talking about selling my van, we somehow got talking about the Journey GT we drove just before finding our new van. For one reason or another, I looked up the Journey’s wheelbase......
113.8Wheelbase.......
My van: 112.3" wheelbase..........
Pretty sure that 1.5" could easily be hid if it was split between then wheel wells. I mean 283 hp + 6-speed + AWD in my van would be a rocket.......
HMMMMMMMM.........................................

That is not a terrible idea. It is a fucking hideous idea. Any journey in a caravan usually is...

What you should do is take one of your 2nd gens, find an AWD transmission, build it to take 250ish HP, and set it up to send all power to the back, build a rear end, and go drifting.

And here is where everything you loved about your previous ChryCos and Mopars comes to a screeching halt.
For the most part, the ECUs in this era of vehicles do not play nice with modding. The proprietary CANBUS that Chrysler used in this era was pre-programmed from the factory for the specific components optioned to that vehicle, on a VIN-number basis. Meaning that while you could physically swap many components between vehicles, the ECU would simply not work because of parts that it doesn’t recognize.
To the point that when the little motor that controls the intake runner tumble flappers (a cheap trick to boost emissions at low RPM) decided to fail, I couldn’t simply replace the lIttle motor with an identical part. No, it REQUIRES dealer intervention. And the dealer doesn’t simply replace the faulty motor, they replace the entire intake manifold, which turns a $70 job into a $1, 200 job. And because it’s an emissions-related part, you can’t pass emissions tests until you bite the bullet, because the code will keep popping up when the connect to OBD.
And the aftermarket community was not keen on cracking these ECUs. Chrysler made it notoriously difficult, and the gains just weren’t there to be had on such cheap vehicles - Cerberus-era Chrysler vehicles did not hold their value in the used market, meaning if you wanted a more powerful version of the car you have, people would tell you to trade it in and buy the more powerful version.
An d forget the aftermarket.
Things may have changed in recent years, they may have started cracking the ECUs, but I wouldn’t know about it.

Well that confirms the model bloat theory.
One model got to big, come out with new model to fill the size segment that that old one was in.

Honestly, I would probably do M egasquirt for the engine management to eliminate all the issues of modern drivetrain-old vehicle , so the only issue would be how it plays with the TCM.

The AWD driveline can handle 500+ whp stock.
If I find an AWD donor, my van is going AWD + Boost.
AWD burnouts FTW.

Guys have used them for drag racing and proven they can handle the abuse/power.
The front is an open diff, the rear is a limited slip. IIRC you can use the Quaife LSD in the trans to solve the open diff up front.
I may be a little rusty on all the details, it’s been about 5 years since I seriously looked into it.
